Have you ever had the Lord knock you out of believing a lie? It feels like a jolt of power that hits you as He releases truth. Being shaken from a lie is like waking up from a bad dream that while you are in it you feel is very real. I was away on a ministry trip and things were not going well. I was crying out to God asking for help and assistance. One of my prayers was; “Lord, I just want to be the donkey you ride in on”.
Immediately a jolt of lightening…Holy Ghost power truth hit me with these words; “You are NOT a donkey I ride on! I have created you in my image and I am in you.”
Whoa, wait a minute…my mind is spinning because how many times I have heard that we are to humble ourselves and be like the donkey Jesus rides on?
“Wait, Lord, what are you saying?” I ask. And He begins to unfold His word and His truth to me; He wants us to realize how precious in His sight we really are. It is simple, yet deeply liberating!
- He only created man in His image – male and female.
“God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
- We are the temple where He dwells.
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?” 1 Corinthians 6:10
- The New Covenant is revealed in His glory in us and through us.
“Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some, letters of commendation to you or from you? You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all me; being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. Such confidence we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was, how will the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory? For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness abound in glory. For indeed what had glory, in this case has no glory because of the glory that surpasses it. For if that which fades away was with glory, much more that which remains is in glory. Therefore having such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech, and are not like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel would not look intently at the end of what was fading away. But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ. But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart; but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3
- Christ is in us! His life, His Spirit and His glory is in us.
“…that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:26-27
“If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans 8:10-11
True humility is walking gently, meekly and confidently in who God has created us to be. It is being true to His nature, person, and His Spirit in us! God did not put his spirit in anything else He created. He put His Spirit in male and female whom He created in His likeness. As He is, so are we to be.
“By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17
You are not a donkey He rides on…you are His Beloved, revealing His image! You are filled with His life-giving Spirit and as He is in the world, so are you!
