Recently I watched a health focused show with professing Christian faith based doctors. It was fascinating. The discussion that has remained with me the strongest was about new evidence about the causes of hardening of heart arteries. There are studies that show hard water that is not purified hardens arteries. Just think about the residue that hard water can leave in bathrooms and kitchens. It is a gray, hard residue that is difficult to get off of the surfaces. It can clog household pipes.
As I reflected upon this medical research and the need for us to drink good, clean water since many diseases all over the world come from the lack of pure water sources, my thoughts turned towards the spiritual aspect of this discovery.
What water source we drink from spiritually is very important. If we allow mixture, anger, bitterness, unforgiveness and other sins to go unchecked, it can block the arteries of our spiritual heart. All life flows from the heart. The brain, intestines and all our organs need our hearts to be in good health so we can function optimally. This is also true spiritually. If there are wounds in our souls (the seat of our spiritual hearts), or anything that can block the flow of God’s love and healing waters, we do not function in the fullness of Christ that is available for us.
I find myself constantly needing my heart monitored by Holy Spirit. He is the best heart specialist.
Hide Your face from my sin, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.Psalm 51:9-10
These verses have significant implications about the heart, being able to persevere, and Holy Spirit working together. In the Beatitudes, Jesus says that Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God. (Matthew 5:8) The word blessed here means: happy…
Jesus promised us living water to those who are thirsty. The water He gives is pure and life giving. Our hearts need to be cleansed from all defilement and negativity. Negative thoughts block the flow of life, but positive reflections and beliefs about God, who we are, what we think about others, and our lives are a tree of life by streams of living water. (Psalm 1)
I want to see God! I want to see God in every situation. When I can see Him and His perspective, I can walk through every valley, any trial and all of life’s ups and downs with a blessed and happy attitude. But, the truth is, I am not living in this 100% of the time.
Blessed, happy are the pure in heart for they will see God. This convicts me. If I can’t see God, then my heart is not pure. Maybe it’s my motives that are out of alignment. Perhaps I have judged someone and the way I judged is now blocking my view of God.
The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.Luke 6:45 NAS
Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flows the spring of life.Proverbs 4:23
To be a prophetic minister, intercessor (which is an advocate who stands in the gap for others) and counselor, I must see God. I am thankful that our precious Holy Three, the Father, Jesus Christ His Son and Holy Spirit are always available to give my heart a tune-up. As I submit to God and allow Him to shine His laser healing light into my life, every dark lie, every hardened place, any unforgiveness or judgments are exposed and brought to the LIGHT! “The Son of righteousness arises with healing in His bright, light filled wings”…literally the hem of His garment and we are made whole.
We are crossing over from religious systems that clogged the churches heart and into a kingdom era that will cause us, the church—Christ’s Bride, to arise with Healing Light and Love that will draw many to the truth. The River of Life will begin to flow unblocked. As followers of Jesus, we should not have dry places. I believe it is not our inheritance to be dry. If we are dry, then something is blocking the flow of Living Water. We may live in a dry place, we may go through desert seasons, but this is not our inheritance where we are to dwell. No matter what, Living Water…Holy Spirit, is available to us.
The enemy seeks for dry places. If we get everything in our lives cleaned up and all the enemies work out, yet we do not take the time to be filled with Living Water, the enemy will come back with 7 more wicked. This is not just with us as individuals, but for the church, cities and nations.
Zechariah 9:9-12…is a prophetic revelation about Jesus Christ. He is even called the River in verse…
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim And the horse from Jerusalem; And the bow of war will be cut off. And He will speak peace to the nations; And His dominion will be from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth. As for you also, because of the blood of My covenant with you, I have set your prisoners free from the waterless pit. Return to the stronghold, O prisoners who have thehope; This very day I am declaring that I will restore double to you.
By the blood of His covenant with us, He delivers us from the waterless pit!! He brings us into the stronghold of the Lord and out of the strongholds of the enemy.
To live free, is to live filled up. To be continually filled is to get the issues that block the flow dealt with. There are times we can do that with the Lord in our own prayer times. There are other times when praying with another, or seeking soul care ministry is necessary. Whatever it takes, I am determined to live with a clean, new heart. When our hearts are positioned before the Lord, free from all blockages, we can see Him, discern what His will is and know the way He has called us to walk.
Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. Psalm 86:11 NASB
Having our hearts united with His will awaken us to be those who worship Him in spirit and truth! (see John 4 as Jesus encounters the Samaratin woman at the well, tells her about living water and true worship). Truly an encounter with the One who is the River of Life will bring us into His presence and glory where we will see His beauty realm as we behold Him and are transformed into His likeness.
For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all thesaints,do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray thatthe eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far aboveall rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him ashead over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Ephesians 1:15-23
